First of all, the Meme is hosted by Jenny Matlock, over at "Off On my Tangent".

Today's letter is R...

I especially love sibling relationships!

All four of my kiddos together

Middle Brother, Little brother

Oldest & Youngest

Brother & Sister

My brother and I...

Then, there is the special relationship between a father and daughter...

What I did today...

Well, I wasn't real productive today, but I did have fun and I *feel* good about what I did. I must first say...I did do housework and some lesson planning before diving off into this. That disclaimer made, today I worked on my "Lesson Plan" notebook cover and my "Everything Book" cover. What is an "Everything Book"? It's my brain in a binder. It has menu's, Bible study, to-do lists, calenders, review info, curriculum info, wish lists, etc.

Anyhow...this is what I did. I think they turned out really cute!

Tour of Troy's room

A while back, I posted a "sneak peak" about something yet to come. Well, I forgot all about it (honestly) and then a family member asked me what it was all about and I remembered. So, here we go...all about "Duggit". Duggit is Troy's alter ego. His imaginary friend, who sometimes possesses his body. Duggit is quite hilarious. We really enjoy his visits. Now, we are confident that our son just has a VERY vivid imagination, and really is not suffering from multiple personalities.

When decorating Troy's room, he wanted it to be "Duggit" friendly. So, we painted his name to put on the wall. On the individual letters of "Duggit", it has "Troy" painted all over in green and blue.   So, it is Troy & Duggit's room, but only one little boy with a wild imagination lives there.

Check out their room. I had a video of "him" but for some reason Blogger won't let me upload it. He speaks like "Froggy" on "Little Rascals".

Talk about humbling...

Over the past few weeks I have been saddened to see posts on facebook that people are posting about their kids returning to school. You know, the one's like "My kids are driving me nuts, I am so ready for school to start" and "I need some 'me time', come on school!". I have pondered these posts and thought to myself "Boy, I am glad I don't feel that way about my kids". Then, it happened. Facebook has a new feature that shows you your posts from that day a year ago. Today mine from last year made me catch my breath, and made me extra sad. This is what it said: (screenshot)

Talk about stepping on my own toes! When we moved here in March 2010, we had decided to try public school. We had heard the schools here were so wonderful. Well, the last 2 months of 6th grade were wonderful for our daughter. We went through the summer planning on putting them into public school in the fall, and that was where my mind was. Funny, if I had only known then that they would do less than two weeks in public school before it was obvious they needed to be home.

I can just praise the Lord that I am in a different place than I was then. I am so excited about school to start here at our house on the 29th, but it has nothing to do with getting my children out of my hair. It has to do with the time we will spend together learning and growing and being together.

Here are my two other status updates from later that day:

Live your life as a sermon

When we are Christians, whether we like it or not, everything we say & do is a sermon to those who see or know us. We show through our actions where we stand with God and how much we follow him. Do you cling tight to the hem and follow him, or do you claim a faith in him but choose more to live by the world?

What are your actions saying to those around you? What sermon are you preaching to your children when the driver in front of you cuts you off? Are you gracious, or do you slander?

What sermon are you preaching when you see a same sex couple out in public? Do you pass judgement on them and shun them, or do you show them love and graciousness because Jesus loves EVERYONE.

Do you speak in words that are uplifting and appropriate, or do you use language that you be ashamed to use in front of your grandma (pastor, church family, job interview, etc.)? Every word you say can build up or tear down, choose carefully, for your words are a sermon.

Do you pass on inappropriate texts or pictures? Once again, your actions are preaching, even if no words are spoken.

When you vote at the polls, do you pick the most Godly candidates you can, the ones that most closely follow the values and ideals God set before us? You are preaching a sermon. The leader of a nation is a direct reflection of  the morals of the people.

Remember, that nothing lasts except for what we do for God.

Are your "sermons" allowing non-believers to see you as a hypocrite? Are your "sermons" showing others what a gracious and loving God we have? We won't always be perfect, and we will mess up. However, the real joy comes in trying. You will plant seeds in all that you do, do your best to make sure they grow the kind of fruit worth growing.

Live your life as a sermon, because it is.
