Negative Nelly

Most of the time I am happy-go-lucky Heather. But, sometimes I get into a funk and I am "negative nelly". This has been an even more common phenomenon since our move here to West Texas.  I really want to bloom where I am planted, and I believe I have, BUT, I believe my growth is stunted. I put on a happy face because I know it hurts hubby that we are unhappy here. I realize now though, *HE* is unhappy here. It was blatantly obvious on our trip to take Michaela to camp this weekend. He was in spirits I have not seen him in in a long while. He was giddy almost. Yes, my husband. The burly mean faced cowboy, giddy. He was playful. Nothing bothered him. It was amazing.

When I woke up in the hotel, this is what I found:

When I asked him *what* he was doing, he said he was "putting all the green in his brain so he could bring it home with him". Wow. It has effected him too.

On the way home from East Texas, we stopped at a park so Troy could play, and so we could get some pictures for a photography scavenger hunt I am doing. Here are some pictures from that.

We had such a nice trip...while we were in this area and on our way home:

Yet, when we got back to this, things started to go downhill. That burly cowboy man I am married to, he started getting grouchy. Troy started whining. Things changed. This following picture is one I took on our way home as I noticed the changes starting. This is over an hour from here...it is much nicer  there than here.

Still I work on my attitude. I want to make the best of living in a barren land. It's amazing how your environment influences your attitude. We did decide, for sure, we are going to move back to the green ASAP.

  1. Thanks for sharing this! We live in PA and we've been getting a lot of rain. It's VERY green here. Sometimes I take that for granted, or complain about the cold (think: winter) - but I don't know that I'd be very happy living in all that brown either. Bless your heart!
