Diverticulitis

I am sure you don't really want to know this, but maybe someone who is experiencing this pain one day will google it and find this post. A couple of weeks ago, I was cramping really bad. It just kept getting more and more intense, to the point of where I was miserable and wound up going to the doctor. The doctor was worried I either had a bad case of appendicitis or a tubal pregnancy. So, he sent me to the ER to have a CT scan. The CT scan revealed I had diverticulitis. Not only did I have them, I had a bunch of them and from my blood work, they were infected. He wanted me to stay in the hospital, but I needed to care for my kids. We compromised with 2 bags of IV antibiotics and a promise from me that I would come back if I had any of "XYZ" symptoms. I did not have any of those symptoms and I took my medicine as prescribed. I also followed a clear liquid diet for 2 days, as told. I advanced my diet as advised. This picture here explains the disease of having diverticulum, when they are infected it is diverticulitis. Very painful, very dangerous (so they say).

Anyhow, I thought when they pain went away, I was done. Not so. I have had three or four days since then where I am in too much pain to do much of anything. Today is one of those days. Hubby took me out to eat Japanese Steakhouse food last night, and I am guessing the rice did me in.

I have an appointment with my Mom's specialist in Houston in two weeks. I am glad, maybe he can help me get to a point where I don't have days like this anymore.
