I have been away

I have been at my mother's house for two weeks having check ups from my specialists and so on. I have fallen behind not only in my blogging, but also in everything else. Particularly distressing is the fact that I fell WAY behind in my Bible reading. Like, 2 weeks behind. In an attempt to catch up, I will be doing 2 days at a time. :D Starting tomorrow that is. Maybe I will do three some days and get caught up quicker.

So, I will be catching up here and everywhere else this week. Then it is back to Houston for more testing and such for a few days.

Desk progression

Okay, just posting pics of the desk as it progressed. The black area is a leather insert. :D

Bible Reading, fell behind

So far I am to Genesis 38. I should have been finished with Genesis before this morning. So, my goal is to get caught up by the end of today. That means I should be done with Exodus 15. If anything this is an exercise in making this a priority. I have been too busy doing other things and not reading as I should. I actually haven't been doing anything that I "should" the last couple of days. I have been shopping and assembling. I am so excited to have a desk now, a place that is just *mine*. Our bedroom is HUGE and I have it over against the wall and out into the room, since it is L shaped. The kids and Chris both said they would have put it in the corner, but I don't want my back to the room. Also, I like how it sections off a little piece of the room and makes it a home office. When Chris came home last night he said he loves it, and it looks like something from a "model home". Made me feel good. Looking at the picture I know it looks plain, but since then I have added decor to it and placed cork boards on the back. I will post an updated picture later today I hope. :D

Now, to complete our room all we need is a couple of chairs for our sitting area (told you it was big), a chest of drawers, nightstands, and a headboard. Oh yeah, I want to change our decor (or actually get some, it is bland right now) too. All in good time I suppose. I will check back in later with my reading.

Today we are also preparing for our two week trip to my Moms. There is a lot to get done as I want to leave a perfectly clean house to come home to. Well, Chris is staying so that may be asking too much, LOL. However, at least it will be nice and clean for the most part. I think I shall drill today.

Missed my Bible reading today

So, I bought a new desk today. Totally un-planned, but an excellent buy I couldn't pass up. It was un-assembled and to pay to have it done would be $160. Not happening. That being said, I brought it home and assembled it myself. Took me several hours, but it looks nice and I am so proud of the job i have done. Tomorrow I will assemble the hutch and place it on there, and then I will be finished. No laundry got done today, but I did 6 loads yesterday, so maybe I am okay there. No algebra and no spanish got done either. Darnit. I think just about everything on my list is done though. I think. Didn't shampoo the carpets. Don't think that will get done until I get back from my two week visit to Houston.

Oh yeah, I must add that I got up and did my hair and make up today, and dressed nice to go out in public. I did, however, change and pull my hair up when I got home. I tried, just can't do it!!!

Day two of "Reading the Bible in 90 Days"

Here I am on day two of "Reading the Bible in 90 Days". Today I read Genesis 17-28:19. I am so relieved that the reading came easier to me today than it did yesterday. I actually enjoyed my reading today. Maybe it is not nice of me to say that I did not enjoy my reading yesterday, but truly, I didn't. God knows my heart, so why try to sugar coat it?

The issues brought up sure make me think of how life back then was so different, and how things we look down on today were acceptable practice back then. Things such as marrying one's first cousin. I find it ironic how even then there was a double standard between the way men and women acted in regards to intimacy. The women were expected to be pure to their husbands, but the husbands took many wives in addition to lying with their servants/concubines. In today's society, many people are not surprised if a man has many women, but it is very surprising when a woman does. I am looking forward to seeing where this changes in the Bible.

I am also looking forward to learning more about circumcision. It is such a huge debate now days. We chose to circumcise our boys, and have come under ridicule for it. I know there is Biblical justification for it for some people, but I am not certain it is there for us. I guess I will have an answer to that one way or the other by the time this is all finished.

Day one of "Reading the Bible in 90 Days"

So, today was day one. You can join and read along with us, info is here. I read Genesis 1-16. I now am reminded why I have never read the Bible from front to back before. It is hard. This is not easy reading. It is difficult. As I sat her mulling over the fact that I found reading just those few pages mundane and difficult, I remembered hearing that it is said that anytime you read the Bible, even if you have no understanding, there will be reward and understanding to come. So, I went searching for that verse. I found the following article that really helped me. It is from here. So, I now feel better and much less discouraged about my commitment to this challenge. This is sewing a seed, which will grow. I will be better for it and my walk with God and understanding will also be greater.

God's Word Is A Seed

Most people expect God's Word to work like a stick of dynamite -- but God's Word is like a seed. We know because of what Jesus said.

LUKE 8:11 NKJ
11 "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

The Holy Spirit, through Peter, also said God's Word is a seed.

1 PETER 1:23 NKJ
23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,

God's Word is alive. Just like a seed -- the Bible is full of unseen life.

JOHN 6:63 NKJ
63 "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

Jesus said His words are alive. They contain life. The words in your Bible may look lifeless and powerless. Seeds do, too. But they are not without life or power.

In Mark 4:30-31, Jesus explained that the kingdom of God works like a seed. So, if we are to understand God's kingdom and how He operates, we need to understand seeds.

Seeds

* A seed is alive: it contains life.

Your physical senses are incapable of judging whether a seed is alive or not. You cannot see, feel, hear, smell, or taste the life in a seed. There is only one way to prove a seed is alive -- plant it.

* A seed does nothing until planted.

Seeds do not grow sitting in a sack on your shelf. They must be planted in the proper place.

If you desire the Word of God to produce in your life, you must decide to plant the Word in your heart and mind.

The best way to plant the seed of God's Word in your life is by speaking the Word. Hearing others speak the Word is good -- but will not produce as bountiful a harvest as speaking the Word yourself.

Speaking God's Word with your mouth is essential. As we speak God's Word we are planting the seed in our heart for the harvest of results we desire.

ROMANS 10:10 NKJ
10 For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.

Whatever you need to be saved or delivered from, confession (what you say) is essential.

* A seed is much smaller than the plant it produces.

The problem you face may seem huge. In comparison, a scripture may seem very small. But when planted, that Word will grow in you and overcome the problem.

* A seed always produces after its kind.

GALATIANS 6:7 NKJ
7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

Whatever you need, or desire, find scriptures relating to that. Then plant those scriptures inside you in abundance. Those seeds will grow up and produce a harvest of what you need or desire.

* A seed is powerful.

As a seed begins to grow, it will push up dirt, rocks, etc. Whatever the obstacles are, God's Word planted in your heart will push them out of the way.

* A seed begins its growth in secret (underground).

The only way to tell if a seed is growing is to dig it up, or wait for a plant to appear. If you dig up a seed, you may kill it.

* A seed takes time to produce.

No one expects a seed to produce a harvest the same day that seed is planted.

Sometimes the Word of God seems to spring up and bear fruit immediately. Yet, if we knew the details, we would understand that the fruit of the Word grew in that person's life over time.

* A seed is persistent.

A seed never gives up, but works day and night. Even when you are sleeping, the seed you have planted is working to grow and express itself in a fruitful harvest.

* A seed is not affected by other seeds.

Whatever happens to other seeds does not make any difference to a specific seed. Each seed sticks to its own task. One wheat seed planted in a corn field will still produce wheat. Seed does not become discouraged, or quit, even if other seeds die.

* A seed will stop growing without nourishment.

Planting a seed is not enough to assure a harvest. Seed must be protected and taken care of until harvest time. A seed which is dug up, or not watered, will not produce.

* More seeds planted produce a larger harvest.

2 CORINTHIANS 9:6 NKJ
6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

Tomorrow is a day for big changes

Once again, I have to get back on a schedule. I am starting to read the Bible in 90 days, but I must also get some other priorities in line. Those being: housework, exercise, and staying on task. I can do this. So, I am coming here to share my goals for this week. I figure maybe if I share, my accountability would be greater. So, that is my confession. I have a problem doing what needs to be done. It is all so overwhelming. Reading through the bible in 90 days

I have never read through the entire Bible. I have meant to many times, but always fell WAY short. I have decided to join this challenge, to read through the Bible in 90 days. It is only 12 pages a day, I can do that no problem. If you are interested in joining along with the challenge, you can join here. The challenge begins July 5th and goes until October 2nd. I am very excited to do this, and in doing so gain a better understanding of his word and get it down into my heart better.

Lose a tooth anyone?

This tooth is what my son found in his Lucky Charms cereal today. He actually bit it causing the roots and a chunk to break off, but still, pretty obvious what it is. Poor Tucker had to run to the bathroom after he pulled it out of his mouth. . I called General Mills and they are offering reimbursement and coupons for our inconvenience. I think they need to do more.

Diverticulitis

I am sure you don't really want to know this, but maybe someone who is experiencing this pain one day will google it and find this post. A couple of weeks ago, I was cramping really bad. It just kept getting more and more intense, to the point of where I was miserable and wound up going to the doctor. The doctor was worried I either had a bad case of appendicitis or a tubal pregnancy. So, he sent me to the ER to have a CT scan. The CT scan revealed I had diverticulitis. Not only did I have them, I had a bunch of them and from my blood work, they were infected. He wanted me to stay in the hospital, but I needed to care for my kids. We compromised with 2 bags of IV antibiotics and a promise from me that I would come back if I had any of "XYZ" symptoms. I did not have any of those symptoms and I took my medicine as prescribed. I also followed a clear liquid diet for 2 days, as told. I advanced my diet as advised. This picture here explains the disease of having diverticulum, when they are infected it is diverticulitis. Very painful, very dangerous (so they say).

Anyhow, I thought when they pain went away, I was done. Not so. I have had three or four days since then where I am in too much pain to do much of anything. Today is one of those days. Hubby took me out to eat Japanese Steakhouse food last night, and I am guessing the rice did me in.

I have an appointment with my Mom's specialist in Houston in two weeks. I am glad, maybe he can help me get to a point where I don't have days like this anymore.

What is their purpose anyhow?

It seems I am now in another scorpion infested house. :( I am tryin hard to find a purpose for their existence, really I am. But when I get to Heaven I think I'd like to know why God put them on earth.

I am terrified of them. I hate them. My husband thought it would be funny to put a fake one under my pillow last night, knowing I do a nightly "scorpion check" of the bedding (and space around the bed). I pulled that pillow back and screamed like I was in a horror movie. He says I jumped like 10 feet. LOL I heard an uproar of laughter afterward, the kids had been let in on the secret.

They will pay! Yes they will. Below is the REAL scorpion from yesterday, above is the fake. :(
